BayMUN represents the University of Bayreuth’s delegation to international Model United Nations (MUN) conferences. For more than 15 years, our students have actively participated in renowned MUN conferences around the world — most notably, the National Model United Nations (NMUN) in New York City, the world’s largest and most prestigious academic UN simulation.
Each spring, after an intensive academic and cultural preparation phase including visits to the United Nations headquarters and various diplomatic missions, the selected delegation travels to New York City to represent a country on the global stage.
The selection process begins in July with a multi-stage application procedure. Following the review of written applications (CV and letter of motivation), selected candidates are invited to a personal interview. Successful applicants demonstrate academic qualification, commitment, and strong communication skills. Around 30 students are selected annually.
Throughout the winter term, students participate in:
a seminar on the United Nations system,
an interactive lecture series on international relations with distinguished guest speakers, and
several preparatory conferences, as well as special events including the famous “Weekend in the Woods” – a mix of diplomacy training and team building.
Join us and become part of an unforgettable international experience!
